Street Pastors Commissioning Service 05.12.25

Street Pastors is a national initiative, of trained volunteers who patrol in teams of men and women, in evenings and during events. They support people who are out on the street, being a peaceful and practical source of help and a listening, caring presence in communities. They’re an approachable and non-judgemental team looking after anyone who is in need of support. Drawn from many different Christian denominations, they now operate in 25 different locations across Scotland.

This event is the launch of the initiative in our region, beginning in Dumfries, with the hope to spread to other towns across Dumfries and Galloway in due course.

We’ll have the Lord-Lieutenant, Fiona Armstrong, The Moderator of the Church of Scotland, Rosie Frew, the Divisional Commander of Police Scotland, amongst others. It’s an inter-church initiative, which we’re hosting it in St Mary’s.
