Food Project

The food project provides a daily surplus drop-in and food parcels

Surplus food from local supermarkets

When and Where:

Every day, 7 days a week, anyone is welcome to come to the drop-in sessions at the Church building between 7pm and 8pm. No referral is needed and it’s completely free.

We receive donations from local supermarkets – Aldi (Glasgow Road and Annan Road), M&S, Tesco (Lockerbie Road) and Lidl virtually every day. Most items are short dated but still safe and useable. The schemes are administered through national organisations, Neighbourly and Fareshare Go.

We’re grateful to an amazing team of volunteers who work tirelessly to collect food from the supermarkets and man the drop-in sessions. They make it possible!

Food Parcels and Deliveries

For deeper needs we provide a service providing and delivering food parcels to DG1 and DG2 areas. Mainly by referral through other local Churches, Social Services etc., we’re here to support people through difficult circumstances.

In some cases people can self-refer but these will be assessed on a case by case basis.

We have been working with the Council and Third Sector Dumfries and Galloway on the Covid emergency response initiatives from the beginning of the outbreak, to ensure vital needs are met.

We are very grateful to individual donors, Dumfries & Galloway Council, Foundation Scotland, Tesco Bags of Help and other funders, who make this possible.
